Defibrillator Fund Presentation

19th June 2013

At the Annual General Meeting of the Mark Charities Fund, our Provincial Grand Master, raised the idea of the Charity purchasing a defibrillator unit for each Masonic Hall in the Province that a) was the meeting place of at least one Mark Lodge and b) did not already possess such a unit. Following discussions with both the attendees of the meeting and the Trustees it was felt that this would be a suitable project for the Mark to pursue.
Of the Halls identified, four of them were in the Furness and South Lakeland Group and the Lancaster and District Group (two in each, being Barrow, Ulverston, Morecambe and Rowley Court at Lancaster)

On Wednesday the 19th June, Furness and South Lakeland Group were holding a retirement dinner at Barrow Masonic Hall for the retiring chairman W.Bro. H R Saunders who had given 21 years of valuable service to the group in the position of Secretary, Vice Chairman and for the last seven years as Chairman. It was felt by the new Group Chairman (who incidentally was the former Mark Provincial Charity Steward) knowing that W.Bro. Peter Connolly was going to be in attendance, that it was too good an opportunity to miss and arranged for Peter to make a presentation to Roly on the night.

Consequently, Peter presented two cheques to Roly (each for £1,800) to cover the costs involved in the purchase of defibrillator units for the above Masonic Halls for both Groups and once delivered and put to place each unit will bear a plaque stating that they were provided by the Mark Masons of West Lancashire.
